AMITYVILLE, N.Y. – NAPCO Security Technologies, Inc. announces a major update to the NAPCO Prima Self-Contained Smart Security System and its existing mobile app, delivering a completely redesigned experience for customers managing their Prima security and smart home systems.

Available beginning September 3, 2026, through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, the Prima v8 app update features a modernized interface, redesigned navigation and significant performance improvements. Core functions including arming, device control and account management have been rebuilt to provide a faster, easier and more reliable user experience.

The update introduces redesigned security controls with clearer entry and exit countdowns, alarm details and sensor status information. Enhanced controls make it easier to manage connected lights, locks, garage doors, water valves and thermostats, while improved activity and notification options provide greater control over push, email and SMS alerts.

Prima v8 also features improved account management and biometric authentication, plus a new Apple Watch companion app that enables customers to arm and disarm their Prima system from their wrist. Additional performance enhancements improve app stability, responsiveness and network security.

Existing Prima users don't need a new app or system setup. Customers simply update their existing NAPCO Prima app, and their credentials, system configurations and device pairings carry over automatically with no re-pairing required.

Prima Self-Contained Smart Security Systems are also ideal for multi-dwelling unit applications, requiring no prewiring for easier installation and offering simple system demonstration and management for building and property managers. Prima’s self-healing Wi-Fi connectivity helps maintain reliable system connections while reducing unnecessary service calls and costly truck rolls.
